Cocktails: the most self-indulgent post about alcohol I'll make all day

Lately I've been thoroughly enjoying a good cocktail, and I must, as usual, explicitly blame the power of suggestion. I ran into this great cocktail blog Cocktailians over six months ago and have slowly had my interest piqued by some of the stuff over there.

I was at the Cav a few weeks back and they had a dedicated cocktail bar open, so I thought I'd try a Manhattan. The barman took care of me, considering the Cav is a violent touristy pub filled with backpackers and scumbags, so I wound up with a Johnnie Walker Black Label Manhattan. At the time scotch wasn't my flavour, but I still found it quite interesting.

Boring story short, I decided to start experimenting with drink mixing, and my bar has begun to build...

My first drink this evening is a Whiskey Mac. I vaguely remembered reading this recipe at some point in the last week and decided to supplement my purchase of a bottle of J&B's Scotch with a bottle of Stones Ginger Wine. When I looked up the ingredients this evening, I found that some punter had suggested the exact same combination. I modified mine slightly to make use of the fresh ginger mint I've been growing, and threw a few leaves in for good measure, as well as ice for climate control (this seems like a great drink for cooler weather to be had at room temperature, but I have no such luxuries - mix in ice at your own preference).

Whiskey Nic
2 shots Scotch
1.5 shots Ginger Wine
4-5 mint leaves

Muddle mint (in ice if desired) and pour in ingredients.

The logical successor to the Whiskey Mac was the Thriller, effectively the same but with orange juice. This time an orange wedge instead of mint, but I feel as if something's missing. Maybe my taste buds have been swayed by the mint. It tastes slightly too much like a high school mixed drink. Whatever, this is bitey and full-bodied drink... pisses on a Screwdriver.

(Troublesome fact - Screwdrivers at sea are amazing)

Nico's Thriller
2 shots Scotch
1.5 shots Ginger Wine
2 shots orange juice

Pour over ice and stir.

Those of you not in close contact might have missed my Martini phase, but it's still running strong. I've found myself hopelessly addicted to Gin and Vodka Martinis. Briefly I went without Vermouth, but I was young, and foolish...

Nictini
2 shots Gin
1/4 shot Dry Vermouth
Some olives on a toothpick

Unlike one Mr. Bond, I do not have my Martini shaken, on account of my lack of cocktail shaker. So I pour the alcohol over ice in a large glass, stir them, then pour. I am truly primitive.

More coming soon. Try them, they're tasty!

Woolloongabba is a cold dead place

HDR Photography

I know Andy and Nico are already well acquainted with this site, I have recently found myself going back again and again for some simply breathtaking photography.

Stuck in Customs is where you find these beautiful pictures, and the information to begin to take your own photos in this fashion.

I would do it but I don't understand photography...

Well I understand it I just couldn't be bothered talking about my F-Stop for 13 hours.

Anyway, Enjoy!

It's A The An Eclipse!

Thank You!

Hello my fellow critters.

Firstly, thank you for welcoming me to your space...

You all can be assured that valid and intresting content will be poured into this blog, like a fine scotch into a crystal glass...

Firstly, I'd like to share some photo's that I discovered on news.com.au while searching for something to entertain me at work, which isnt blocked.

I hate to laugh at the injustice that people suffer for their beliefs, but i cannot help but laugh at these.

So the low down on these images...
"Ultra-Orthodox Jews" are protesting in Jerusalem, over the unjustified arrest of an Ultra-Orthodox woman for abusing her son and the opening of a parking lot during the Sabbath.
The Israeli police officer in the bottom picture, looks like he is enjoying this way too much...

Welcome to the Interblag!

Welcome to our newest interblag member.

You have been deemed worthy to join the ranks of our wobsite...

Probably through clerical error, or some major mix-up.

We're currently checking into it.

Anywho...

Print it black.

Been having some issues getting my photos developed lately, yet to find out whether it's my film or the dodgy hour-photo place I've been taking them too, but I think I can guess.
Anyway, the blacks are turning out green and the whole colour scale is all sorts of messed up, but it's all I got for now, so I am posting anyway. Also my duct tape is starting to peel off again...
Enjoy readers. Both of you.

Don't Forget About This Queenslander!

Various noises this creature emitts include:

'Ya cunt!'
'Hey bloke'
'Corr that's nifty'

& most commonly,

'Get fucked!'

General Conclusions: Mostly Harmless.

Queenslanders? Never known a decent one...

Oh yeah...

Photojournalism from the Swine Flu Capital.

My camera is fixed with electrical tape, my lens is full of mould, and there's no sunlight down here, I'm really only posting these to get Jason off my back.

Hi Jason.

Rebuilding Amsterdam, Brick by Brick.

This is a good example of somebody doing something for the sheer hell of it, and others get to see some interesting stuff along the way.

A few people have actually started joining in too!

I know two bluggers (cross between bloggers & buggers) that could take a hint from this!
